The course will be based around a single half-day site-visit each day, with sessions both of lectures and of lab-based identification for the remainder of the day, together with free time for participants to refer to available teaching resources. Training will be based on employing the Guide to the Identification of Riverine Plants (Lansdown 2009). In addition, more than 200 literature references will be available during the course, including most of the European aquatic plant identification guides and the new vegetative key. Participants will also be able to use their preferred field guides and compare these with other resources. Site visits will include rivers in Snowdonia and a suite of freshwater bodies on Anglesey. On-site training will relate to the taxa encountered, rather than being limited to specific taxa, although sites have been selected to focus on particular groups.
Transport will be by mini-bus if the full course complement of 15 participants is reached. If not, then cars may be used and petrol costs will be refunded.
The course will cost £500.00 which will cover course fees, plus lunch each day and will include a copy of the Riverine Plant guide as course notes. Anyone who brings a copy of the guide with them will have the cost price refunded.
A place on the course can be reserved through payment of a £50.00 deposit. The balance will need to be paid at the beginning of June.
